Xerox buys Thinfilm’s IP portfolio for memory labels

Thinfilm creates printed tags, labels and systems that include memory, sensors, displays, and wireless communication.

Thin Film Electronics ASA has announced that global technology leader Xerox Corp. will acquire certain Thinfilm Memory intellectual property (IP). In return, Thinfilm will receive an up-front payment plus an earn-out based on the existing agreed-to royalty schedule.

Thinfilm is a leader in NFC mobile marketing and smart-packaging solutions using printed electronics technology. The company creates printed tags, labels, and systems that include memory, sensors, displays, and wireless communication – all at a cost-per-function unmatched by conventional electronic technologies.
